Masterbuilt 20150209 Electric Veranda Outdoor Pedestal Grill, Black Review

Masterbuilt 20150209 Electric Veranda Outdoor Pedestal Grill, BlackSeveral years ago we ordered a Masterbuilt Electric Veranda Grill from QVC.It looked great and would heat to about 450-500F but then promptly cool down. You could get a semi-decent sear on meat if you opened the lid, quickly threw the meat on and slammed the lid shut.Over time it started to lose heating capacity so we ordered a replacement heating element and plug. However, this did not help so we figured something internally was worn out.We just ordered a new unit from Amazon. It arrived today and after I spent 30 minutes assembling it noticed it was more cheaply constructed that the previous grill.I then plugged it in.It will not heat above 325F. I just discovered today that there is a hidden but major design flaw in these units. When the top is closed there is a gap in the back from which the heat escapes.Amazon has notified me that they will send UPS to pick up the unit.

Char Broil Patio Bistro Infrared Electric GrillNewest Version Review

Char Broil Patio Bistro Infrared Electric GrillNewest VersionOur condo association outlawed charcoal grills this year, and will only allow lp gas grills (out of the question due to high installation costs).
The Patio Bistro looked like an answer.Ordered one via the web, as none were in stores.
The "50 minute assembly" was more like 90, but that's life. The fact that the grill wouldn't heat was not so easy to take.Char Broil thought it might be the electrical controller (a removable item), but the replacement didn't work either.
Returned the grill to the brick/mortar version of the online store, for a swap. After some jiggling of the controller, it did work for a moment at the store.Took it home.
The grill heated to no more than 150 degrees, the electrical connection never shut down, and I'm taking it back today.
Too bad, as the cooking area is far greater than most outdoor electric grills.Char Broil Patio Bistro Infrared Gas Grill

George Foreman GRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill, Black Review

George Foreman GRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill, BlackWe previously had a smaller george forman grill with a little blue dome on top for 'bun heating'. It was hard to fit food for 2 on it. Despite that, we pretty much wore it into the ground and decided to get a larger one, specifically this model because we desperately needed removable plates and the extra space.

I tend to use the GF grill when I'm eating home alone, because it's super easy to use and makes a fast dinner - throw your chicken on, make some cous cous and peas, and you've got the perfect meal(in my humble opinion). A sore spot was created by the old grill, because darn it, I just HATED cleaning it. and if I didn't clean it after each and every use, my boyfriend would mention it without fail. His pet peeve is that I didn't always clean it immediately, my pet peeve was that I had to clean it at all.

One thing I've heard is that it doesn't get as hot due to the removable plates. I would agree with this, but I don't really consider it a "con" of the appliance, just something I noticed. It gets hot enough and still gives a nice color and grill lines to your chicken or whatever you're making. A few new features I love: For starters, its much nicer looking then the old style grey/blue one we had. It's sleek and sexy - if that's possible for an appliance. There is an on/off switch, the drip tray actually conforms to the machine and fits snug right under the front, no more getting knocked over by accident. It also has little latches on the side to lock the top and bottom together for easy storage. And last but not least, the miraculous fact that the removable plates are DISHWASHER SAFE!!!!!!!! ( I swear, the angels just came out and made that angelic chorus of ta-da type music).

I am no longer in trouble for not cleaning the foreman. yay!! I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat. I think it makes a great gift and is a staple in any type of cook's kitchen(we're totally both amateur home chefs).

Presto 07046 Tilt 'n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric Griddle Review

Presto 07046 Tilt 'n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric GriddleI love making pancakes. In the past I would use two large cast-iron skillets for the task. I found myself constantly adjusting my burner temperature and I would always get a few very dark (or burnt) or a few undercooked pancakes out of each batch. Plus I could only cook two pancakes at a time; one in the center of each skillet (I like making large, perfectly round, 5-6" diameter pancakes.)

After much research, I finally broke down and bought the Presto Tilt'nDrain BigGriddle because I liked the enormous cooking area it offered. And I liked the fact that is was made of heavy cast aluminum and that it sat perfectly level (some griddles have sloped cooking decks to allow grease and juices to run away from the foods... NOT desirable when making pancakes or scrambled eggs.) And I liked how the griddle can be quickly adjusted so that it WILL tilt forward which *does* allow grease to run away when you want it to! (it has a grease channel and catch-tray along the front edge of the unit.)

My first impressions with this unit:

- It's huge! 18.5" x 15" cooking area.
- It heats evenly. My infrared (IR) non-contact thermometer gun showed very little temperature variation across the cooking surface once it was fully heated (I let the thermostat cycle several times -- about 10 minutes -- before I took my readings.) My pancakes verified this finding with each one being equally browned.
- The thermostat is accurate. I set the unit to 350-degrees F., and it heated to 350-degrees F. as verified by my IR thermometer gun.
- The raised lip around the sides and back of the unit is high enough to contain pancake batter and keep it from spilling over and is low enough to be completely unobtrusive.

After un-boxing the unit, I cleaned, plugged, and turned on the unit (set for 350-degrees F.) After a 10 minute warm up, I applied my pancake batter. As noted earlier, in the past I was only able to make two pancakes at a time using two separate skillets. The Presto griddle allowed me to cook 6 (yes, SIX!!) of my large pancakes at the same time. All six pancakes browned evenly with no hot or cold spots seen. Flipping the pancakes was a breeze and I used no oil on the non-stick surface.

I made two batches of pancakes, one batch after the other, and both turned out exactly the same... and that was "perfectly." I made a two batches of pancakes (12 pancakes total) in the same amount of time it took to make 4 in the past. For the first time my whole family ate pancakes together at the same time!!

So, in summary, the Presto Tilt'nDrain BigGriddle is well designed, easy to use, heats accurately and evenly, and has a very large cooking surface. Clean-up was quick and easy. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who needs a large griddle that cooks accurately and evenly.

NOTE: Regarding a few other reviews here, I don't see how anyone can rate this product 2 or 3 stars, faulting the unit because it's too large to store. I mean, come on!! It's a big griddle by DESIGN!! If it's too large for you, then you should have bought a smaller griddle! ;-)

Other highlights include a premium nonstick surface to ensure effortless food release, a cool-touch base that surrounds the grilling surface on the front and both sides, a built-in backstop ledge, and a slide-out drip tray for quick cleanup. Zojirushi EB-CC15 Indoor Electric Grill Review

Zojirushi EB-CC15 Indoor Electric GrillPros:
- non-stick surface makes it extremely easy to clean. Charred food debris just slides off the surface.
- base of the unit is made of plastic and acts as an insulator so there is no need to put anything under it to protect your tabletop.
- safety mechanism built in so that grill cannot be operated without drip pan.
- takes only 10 minutes to heat up fully.
- grill is a heavy cast iron so holds heat well. I have seen other similar grills by companies like Sanyo and only Zojurushi uses a heavy cast iron grill.
- heats very well. Grills meat very fast.
- no smoke generated- not sure why, but there just isn't any.

Cons:
- none so far.

Notes:
- if you want to grill vegetables, I'd recommend coating them with some oil before putting them on the grill, otherwise the veges tend to get dry.
- power cable is short, so make sure you have an extension cable handy.

Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor Grill Review

Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor GrillI got this grill about a week ago and I love it. First of all the cooking area is BIG.. and wonderful so that you can really cook. I also love how you can adjust the heat setting depending on what you are cooking instead of like my former George where it was 1 temp was supposed to cook all ( which burnt the outside of thick pieces of meat and chicken breast and left the inside way underdone)I also love how the fat drips down immediatlyinto the tray. On my George ( a big one) the fat would come sort of off one burger and then run into the other burger and stay therewithout ever going into the tray thing. Clean up is alot easier than George because I can stick all of it except the temp control into the sink or dishwasher to wash. I also like the lid that keeps the food from drying out while cooking and warm before it is served. I will admit it is not as fast as George but honestly the quality of food I cook is so much better b/c it has been cooked right and not just fast. This grill IMO is much more similar to cooking on an outside grill and the taste is better for it. I highly reccomed this product over it's competition, there is no comparrison! Move over George, YOU GO GRILL!

Sanyo HPS-SG4 Extra-Large Indoor Barbecue Grill and Griddle Review

Sanyo HPS-SG4 Extra-Large Indoor Barbecue Grill and GriddleI really like this grill. I found it to be particulary good for searing fish and really like the smoke free feature. I was a little skeptical of the smoke free feature however it really does do a good job of cooking with little-to-no smoke. I really found the griddle to be very useful as I love sauteed mushrooms on burgers and the griddle and grill together are quite conducive for this type of cooking. Having one place to grill and griddle is very handy for eggs and sausage or bacon for breakfast too. For someone who lives in an apartment wihout an outdoor area for barbequeing (like myself) this is a great alternative.

Weber 526001 Q 140 Electric Barbeque Grill Review

Weber 526001 Q 140 Electric Barbeque GrillRecently the fire marshal forced our condo to ban gas grills. We love our grilled steaks, ribs, and chops and were afraid that we could no longer enjoy them.

After scouring the web for ideas, I learned about a new electric technology developed by Weber ( the famous kettle cooker people). This small "egg shaped" grill uses reflective surfaces to allow an electric coil to produce temperatures matching those of a gas grill. The meat tastes as good as comparable cuts cooked on my old gas grill.

Furthermore, the internal parts simply lift out for easy washing in the kitchen sink.

Meco 9325 Deluxe Electric Cart Grill, Satin Black Review

Meco 9325 Deluxe Electric Cart Grill, Satin BlackWe live in a condo complex on a second floor with a large balcony. We are only allowed to have an Electric Grill. After reading many of the other reviews for the other Electric Grills, I choose Meco because I did consumer research.

Having the Grill this summer was a great gift.Food tastes wonderful, doesn't take up too much space, has 2 fold out flaps to store food and such. Heats up quickly, easy temperatures gauge.

As for cleaning, take the metal rack and rinse with ease.If cleaned quickly after use, like any pot or pan with hot water, stays completely perfect. If not grill residue does build up in the electric area that gives you the heat to grill, and if you wait to long to clean you will smell the burning of the old excess drippings.(I clean immediate without any issue - the fiance although did not...)

Sanyo HPS-SG2 Indoor Barbeque Grill with 120-Square-Inch Nonstick Cooking Surface Review

Sanyo HPS-SG2 Indoor Barbeque Grill with 120-Square inch Nonstick Cooking SurfaceI have the larger Sanyo electric grill and it is great, just a little too big for my kitchen counter.(it is out in my RV, working great)But this baby is just right for my kitchen.

It has a little less wattage than the bigger model but actually seems to heat up a little faster.I like the design of the grilling surface better than the design of the bigger unit (deeper grooves, and a good lip around the edge).I like the water tray that is black instead of aluminum in color, and it is easier to remove and pour the little amount of water out (1/2 cup of water is used to keep the smoke down).

My cooking routine is to set it up, pour a 1/2 cup water into the tray, spray a little canola oil on the grill, turn the control up to high to pre-heat for about 3 minutes, then slap the seasoned steak, burger, chicken, ribs, etc. on the grill.I sear in some good grill marks on each side, then turn the heat down to medium and finish cooking at a slower pace, depending upon thickness of the piece being cooked. My first try was a T-Bone steak, and it was great!

After the food is done, I turn the heat control off.For cleanup, I place a couple of dripping wet paper towels on the grill surface, turn the heat control back to high for a minute or so.When the steam starts rising of the wet towels, I shut of the power, and just wipe down the grill with those same paper towels, then dry, it cleans very easily.

Nothing is quite like the burning and flames of a good charcole fire, but indoors or out, this cooks very, very well, with bare minumum of effort.

I do recommend aluminum foil to cover the grill and the food to speed pre-heating and to keep splatters down.I think I may get some disposable shallow metal foil trays that match the grill size, to use as lids, they look like they should work well.

George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/Outdoor Grill Review

George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/Outdoor GrillBefore I get into this review, we have to understand the product we are looking at: a George Foreman ELECTRIC grill. George Foreman products are essentially useful variations of hotplates. In this case, the hot plate takes the form of a grill (with a stand, a dome cover, a large cooking surface with raised grooves etc...).

That being said, this product caters to people (me) willing to try a product that is not a traditional charcoal grill, could be useful in smaller spaces/porches, looks like it is easy to use and clean up, could potentially cut some fat (never hurts, right?), and seems like it will work well as a good back-up grill or a quick solution to throwing mini-bbqs requiring even heat distribution without the hassle of buying/lighting/dumping coal. If that's you, then read on...

Here, I'll try my best to outline the grill's pros and cons, as well as do a quick, inevitable comparison it to a traditional charcoal grill.

PROS:
The pros of this grill basically equal the pros of using hot plates in general:
1) Quick Heat - The whole surface heats up very quickly (you'll be ready to cook in a few minutes after you twist the switch)
2) Design - Basically you have the stand, a bottom dome, the flat grill that sits on the bottom dome, then the lid (top dome). You can easily remove the flat grill part to use indoors separate from the stand, and it also makes for easy cleaning since you can just throw the flat grill surface in the sink.
3) Easy to Clean - The grill surface is relatively easy to clean. Understand, grease is never easy to clean. But in my situation, i wipe off the chunks of grease with paper towels, then run hot water over it in the sink (yes it fits in my sink) and wash it with a soapy sponge. It's basically like cleaning a big oily plate by hand in the sink, however easy or hard that is to you.
4) Space Saving - The bulk of the materials are where it should be: the grilling surface. Everything else (aka the stand) is small and portable.
5) Easy to Assemble - A no brainer. Put the pole of the stand into the foot of the stand. Attach the grilling surface to the bottom dome. Stick that whole thing on the stand. Then put the cover on top. Took a few minutes while I was watching TV.
6) Great Tasting Food - Of course this part is important. I tried cooking everything unseasoned and it just tastes great. I mean, this this one thing I love about hotplates...food tastes good without a lot of seasoning. I cooked unseasoned burgers, top sirloin, chuck roast, kielbasa..it was fast, it tasted good, and it had good looking grill stripes on it when I was done.

Cons:
Seriously, not much that I can think of. If I had to be picky:
1) Could be a little heavy for people with a bad back?
2) When you lift it by the handles, the stand comes out (since they're not really "attached"....the grill just sits on the stand.) So you gotta lift it by the pole of the stand, really...this isn't even a con truthfully.
3) People complain about the grease not dripping into the pan. Well, it's a hot plate with grooves and a hole in it for grease to drip. Of course not all the grease magically swims toward the magical grease drip hole. But still, it works fine...I didn't notice sever grease build-up that stood in the way of my grilling.

Comparison to a Traditional Grill:
Really, there shouldn't be a comparison. Obviously this is not a charcoal grill and should never be compared to one. They are just 2 different things, and so they make food taste different: traditional grills basically fire cook your food through the coal's heat so you get the taste of charcoal while this product essentially "pan sears" your food. I'm a long time lover of all kinds of BBQ, and charcoal grills are great fun, make great tasting food and really cannot be replicated. You shouldn't be buying this grill to ever *REPLACE* a charcoal grill; it should be bought to be a 2nd grill that's great for rainy days or a primary grill if you really have no space and don't have time/space to deal with lighting and dumping charcoal.

Overall, this grill is an electric hot plate with raised grooves that makes great tasting food quickly, quietly, and easily. And for what it is, it's a SUPERB product (and relatively affordable too!). Go get one! I didn't regret my purchase and I don't think you will either.

Char-Broil Patio Caddie Electric Grill Review

Char-Broil Patio Caddie Electric GrillI've had the electric patio caddie for a little over a year now, and it is an exceptional convenience.Living in an apartment complex where gas grills aren't allowed, the electric grill was my only viable alternative, but I didn't realize I was going to prefer it.Build quality is great, it heats up quickly enough (10 mins or so) and can maintain grilling temperatures of 400-500 degrees.Though compact, it is large enough to feed 2-4 potential culinary critics, from steaks to seafood to the exotic, you name it.The only slight problem I've found is that if you keep the porcelain lid off too long, the temperature can drop quickly, but for a compact grill, that's to be expected.Cleanup is not kidergarten easy, but it's not difficult either.Learn to use it (i.e. harness the "force"), and the Patio Caddie is extremely easy to control, master, and enjoy for years to come.A gas version is also available. From this review you'd think I work for Charbroil, but I don't!Great grill - 5 stars...

Sanyo HPS-SG3 200-Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill, Black Review

Sanyo HPS-SG3 200-Square inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill, BlackThis is one appliance that lives up to every one of the manufacturer's claims.I follow directions and spray the grill surface with cooking spray and put half a cup of water in the pan below, and the grill really is, as advertised, smokeless and extremely easy to clean.I like the adjustable grill temperature, a feature I'm not used to since my faithful antique Farberware, now deceased, had only two settings, namely "plugged in and on" or "unplugged and off".The Sanyo cooks everying in half the time the old grill did, and without cabinet-endangering flareups. I particularly like the enormous cooking surface since I'm regularly cooking for 5 adults and a child and with this grill I can cook for all of us at once. The dimensions make it easy to store if you set it vertically rather than horizontally. The appliance is so low in height that I set mine on a silicone countertop protector, but I'm not sure this is really necessary. My only complaint is that there is no surrounding rim to keep your hamburgers from sliding right off the grill when you try to flip them over, but using a second spatula as a backstop solves that problem. This grill is a terrific bargain even at the suggested retail price; at the current Amazon price it's even more terrific.
